Like many Californians, we love us some avocados. And Mike and I are constantly on the hunt for the best avocado toast in LA. Or as we call it, “Our Deeply Important Avocado Toast Quest.” So far, here are our top picks for avocado toasts, the places that were “close but not the best.” Then we’d love to hear YOUR favorite places to get avocado toast in LA.
Our picks for the best avocado toast in LA:
1. Sqirl — East Hollywood

2. Paramount Coffee Project — Fairfax District
They change up their avocado toasts a LOT. But here’s the thing: Aussies know avo toast. So it’s always good.
3. Go Get Em Tiger — Larchmont
This toast can overcome the fact that there’s nowhere good to sit.
4. Dinette — Echo Park
5. Otium — Downtown LA
6. Jon & Vinny’s — Fairfax District
7. Zinc Cafe and Market — Downtown LA
8. The Larder — Beverly Grove
This sort of violates our rule of having to taste mostly of avocado, but it’s damn delicious. So they get away with it.
9. The Hart and the Hunter — Beverly Grove
I kind of love that The Hart and the Hunter uses un-toasted bread for their avocado “toast.” It’s just as delicious and easier to eat!
10. Spartina — Melrose
11. Dune — Atwater
12. Soho House
Yeah, I know it’s a dick move to include a private club in this list. But I believe part of the reason Mike pays to be a member is this toast.
Close but not quite the best avocado toast in LA:
1. Odys & Penelope
2. M Café
3. Paper or Plastik Café
4. Goldie’s
5. Cafe Gratitude
6. Food Lab
7. Commissary
8. PYT
9. Le Pan Quotidien
What are your favorite places to get avocado toast in LA?
Mm avo toast.. now I’m hungry… But to be honest most of these look over the top to me. The two that don’t seem to be made by Aussies (Gday!). My umtimare avo toast has sour dough, grass fed butter, avo, some smoked salmon or Danish fetta and finger line pearls. Someone should make that. With cracked pepper.
OMG SOMEONE SHOULD MAKE THAT! And then give it to me. That sounds awesome.
