Where to get some truly life-changing pancakes in LA

You know that I’m all about waffles. But sometimes I get a massive craving for pancakes. But not just any pancakes — life-changing pancakes. Pancakes that you can’t get anywhere else but at certain restaurants.

So here’s where I go when I wake up with a craving for pancakes in LA…

The Griddle — West Hollywood

What makes these pancakes different: From these lemon and raspberry pancakes to red velvet pancakes, to any flavor of pancake you never thought existed… The Griddle has ’em. And they’re bigger than your head!

Winsome — Echo Park

What makes these pancakes different: They’re Buckwheat and semolina pancakes with preserve and chestnut honey.

Breakfast by Salt’s Cure — West Hollywood

What makes these pancakes different: Salt’s Cure doesn’t call them “pancakes” — they’re oatmeal griddle cakes and you can get them in several different ways.

Native — Santa Monica

What makes these pancakes different: They’re browned butter pancakes with sea salt and roasted coconuts. These make driving to Santa Monica totally worth it.

The Eveleigh — West Hollywood

What makes these pancakes different: They’re spelt hot cakes with whipped butter, maple, and cinnamon.

Jist Cafe — Downtown

What makes these pancakes different: Crème fraiche pancakes the size of your lap, and topped with TCHO chocolate chips and bananas.

Fratelli Cafe — Melrose

What makes these pancakes different: 7 grain almond pancakes means that they’re healthier than regular pancakes and the texture is delightful!

Jinky’s Cafe — Sherman Oaks, Santa Monica, Studio City

What makes these pancakes different: You have your choice of pumpkin, wheat, and oaty oat cakes. I highly recommend the pumpkin and the oaty oats.

Mardi — West Hollywood

What makes these pancakes different: They’d be completely straight ahead and completely delicious if they weren’t buckwheat pancakes with salted butter! YUM!

Where to get really great straight-ahead pancakes in LA:

Joan’s on Third — Los Angeles, Studio City

They’re classic-style, and they’re perfect.

Jon & Vinny’s — Fairfax District

These are straight-ahead buttermilk pancakes, but DAMN they still may be some of the best pancakes in LA!

The Magnolia Grille — North Hollywood

If you like your traditional pancakes with blueberries.

Okay, I shared my favorite places to get pancakes, now what are YOUR favorite pancakes in LA?
